The Kherson City Court handed down a verdict in absentia to Svitlana Shevchenko, who took an active part in organizing the Russian pseudo-referendum in the Kherson region.
According to “IRS-South”, a resident of the village of Zahorianivka was found guilty of collaborationist activities (part 5 of article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in September 2022 the woman conducted illegal voting in Muzykivka. Witnesses recall that Shevchenko did not hide her joy at the arrival of the occupiers: she behaved uninhibitedly and even tried on a Russian military cap. After the liberation of the right-bank area she fled to the occupied territory; according to the latest information, she is hiding in Henichesk.
According to the court’s decision, the convicted woman was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment. All her property will also be confiscated, including three land plots with a total area of 2.54 ha. In addition, Shevchenko is deprived of the right for 12 years to work in government bodies or participate in electoral processes. The verdict can still be appealed.
