Kherson City Court has handed down a sentence to a resident of Kherson region, Svitlana Shevchenko, who helped the occupiers conduct a pseudo-referendum in the village of Muzykivka.

As the investigation established, in September 2022 she carried out door-to-door visits together with Russian military, urged people to support the annexation, kept records of Ukrainian citizens who took part in the referendum, and provided ballots for voting to the village residents.
Interviewed witnesses confirmed the woman’s participation in organizing and conducting the illegal referendum. In particular, they said that she went around the village accompanied by Russian troops. At the same time she behaved confidently and uninhibitedly and was in an elevated, joyful mood.
The court, in absentia, found Svitlana Shevchenko guilty of collaborationist activity (part 5 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). She was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all her property.
Recall, overall since the start of the war in the Kherson region more than 2.6 thousand crimes against national security have been recorded.
