A 29-year-old resident of Kherson region, who attempted to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Romanian border, turned to rescuers for help after becoming disoriented in the mountains.
The press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports this.
At night the man got lost near the state border. He then called rescuers asking for help. Border guards together with rescuers of the State Emergency Service (DSNS) quickly searched for the man in the mountains on the border with Romania. When they found him, he was unconscious, had a head injury and signs of frostbite.
The border guards provided the Kherson resident with first aid and handed him over to medics, who took him to the hospital.
It later emerged that he had attempted to cross the border illegally, but had not taken into account the difficulty of the mountain route.
