37-year-old Olena Shkarupylo from Henichesk, a former judicial assistant, took a position as a judge’s assistant at the occupying «Henichesk District Court» of the Kherson region. She helped the Russians «try» people they had kidnapped. On 30 January 2026 the Ternopil City District Court found Shkarupylo guilty of collaboration.

The court established that in the second quarter of 2023 Shkarupylo voluntarily took a position as a judge’s assistant at the occupying «Henichesk District Court», illegally created by the Russians in April of that year. In this position the woman helped the invaders «try» people they had kidnapped in the Kherson region.
Olena Shkarupylo participated in the consideration of so-called cases of people kidnapped by the Russians together with Serhiy Barchuk, the deputy head of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Kherson region, and his relatives. In particular, with her involvement the occupiers’ captives were illegally subjected to so-called preventive measures on a fabricated charge of “stealing” property of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
SBU investigators in July 2024 called the reception of the head of the occupying court in Henichesk. They were told that Shkarupylo indeed works as an assistant to the so-called judge.
The court found Olena Shkarupylo guilty of collaboration under Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sentence in absentia is 15 years in prison with confiscation of all property.
After serving the main sentence she was banned for 15 years from holding positions in courts, law enforcement agencies, bodies of state power, local self-government, in state and communal enterprises and institutions, as well as in organizations that provide public services. The court’s verdict has not yet come into legal force.
