Investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine have announced a suspicion against Russian journalist and curator of the occupation media in the Kherson region Oleksandr Malkevich.
This was reported in the charge published on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to law enforcement, Malkevich is a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg from the “United Russia” party and a member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, which officially makes him a representative of the political elite of the aggressor state.
The investigation established that he consciously used his status to implement the Kremlin’s occupation policy in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
In particular, after the start of the full-scale invasion he Malkevich he became a key figure in creating a pro-Russian information space, directly overseeing the launch of pro-Russian television channels that were broadcast in the occupied territories of the Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions.
In addition, on his social media pages he published posts in which he called Ukrainian cities, in particular Kherson, Avdiivka and the occupied parts of Zaporizhzhia, “an integral part of Russia”. He also called for the seizure of Ukrainian lands and for the final establishment of Russian rule there.
The SBU suspects Oleksandr Malkevich under part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (distribution of materials calling for changes to Ukraine’s borders, committed by a representative of the authorities).
