Most Kherson residents believe that the city’s recovery should begin with the reconstruction of the destroyed infrastructure.
This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Kherson Community Foundation ‘Zakhyst’.
58% of respondents are convinced that reconstruction should begin precisely with restoring what was destroyed. This figure has fluctuated only within the margin of error over the past three years.
At the same time, the opinion that reconstruction should start with the return of people is becoming increasingly popular. In October 2023 it was supported by 36% of respondents, and now already 48%.
Respondents are confident that reconstruction of the destroyed should begin with housing — 77% of respondents think so. In second place are medical facilities — 71%, in third educational institutions — 48%.
A similar situation is seen in the assessment of which institutions and establishments should resume their work first. Kherson residents consider medical facilities a priority — 86%, educational institutions — 68% and social service institutions — 49%.
It should be recalled that the village of Posad-Pokrovske in the Chornobaivka community became one of the key sites of the state experimental project on comprehensive reconstruction of de-occupied territories.
As a result of the 2022 hostilities, according to the State Recovery Agency, all 940 buildings were damaged, of which 80% – were completely destroyed.
