The operation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the Krynky area on the left bank of Kherson region was a failure due to the lack of objective intelligence data, errors in command, and insufficient support for the units.
This was said in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda by a serviceman, Hero of Ukraine Serhiy Volynskyi.
According to Volynskyi, already at the initial stage of the operation it was clear that the set tactical objectives could not be achieved, yet it was continued for 9 months.
“I am convinced that it became clear to everyone when at the tactical level we did not achieve the successes we were supposed to achieve in the first stage of this operation. If we did not do this, why continue this whole spectacle?”, – the serviceman said.
Volynskyi noted that decisions were made without relying on objective intelligence data, and the military operated under conditions of a lack of effective air defense cover, difficult logistics, and insufficient material support.
According to him, tactical-level commanders became victims of decisions made “from above” and cannot bear full responsibility for the consequences of the operation. Instead, Volynskyi stressed that questions should be directed to the higher military leadership.
He directly named the Commander of the Marine Corps of Ukraine, Yurii Sodol, among those responsible for the decisions, noting that there are “many questions for him, from Mariupol to Krynky”.
According to Volynskyi’s estimate, losses near Krynky may amount to thousands of dead.
“I am convinced that it is thousands of people. I know that more than a thousand service members are now considered missing”, – the serviceman said.
