Figure skater from Kherson Kyrylo Marsak won the international tournament Merano Ice Trophy – Memorial Martina Barricelli, which took place in the Italian city of Merano.
This was reported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
The competition was the athlete’s final start ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
The 21-year-old athlete won both segments of the competition. For the short program he received 78,21 points, and for the free skate — 176,17 points. Both results exceeded his previous personal bests. In total Marsak scored 254,38 points, which secured him first place at the tournament.
The Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games will take place from 6 to 19 February. The Olympic figure skating competition will be held at the Ice Arena in Milan, and the men’s singles competition will begin on 10 February.
Kyrylo Marsak will represent Ukraine at the upcoming Olympic Games.
Kyrylo Marsak was born in Kherson. He competes in men’s singles. He is a three-time Ukrainian champion (2023-2025),bronze medalist of the Ukrainian championships (2021).
Kyrylo Marsak is also the Ukrainian junior champion (2021) and a participant of the European Championships (2023) and the World Championships (2023, 2025).
He became the first Ukrainian to land a quadruple lutz (a jump in figure skating that has four rotations in the air, – mostu) at international competitions in the 21st century.
