The Security Service of Ukraine announced new charges against the pro-Russian blogger from Kakhovka, Dmytro Taran.
This was revealed by the notice of suspicion on the Prosecutor General’s Office website.
According to the investigation, through his YouTube channel Taran spreads pro-Russian narratives. In particular, he calls Ukraine “an inseparable part of Russia”, and the war – allegedly “a liberation mission” against the West.
Interestingly, Taran often presents himself as “an intelligence officer” although in reality he is not one.
Also in his broadcasts he not only supports the occupation of Ukrainian territories, but openly admires war criminals. In particular, he glorified the founder of the PMC “Wagner”, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, calling them true patriots.
For this, Dmytro Taran is suspected of encroaching on the territorial integrity of the country (Part 1, Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), justifying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation (Part 2, Art. 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and repeated justification of the war and praising the occupiers (Part 3, Art. 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Dmytro Taran is from the city of Kakhovka. Before the full-scale invasion he worked in film production, serving as a screenwriter, director and actor.
According to the YouControl business analytics system, Taran is still a co-owner of LLC “Taran Production” – a film company registered in Kyiv.
He received the first charge in June of last year. Later it became known that ARMA found luxury cars, firearms, land plots, deposits of over UAH 500,000, real estate and agricultural machinery in his possession.
