The Russian Federation included the deputy head of the Kherson regional Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars, Nasrulla Seydaliyev, on the list of “extremists and terrorists” and illegally transferred him to the Republic of Altai.
This was reported on social networks by Eskender Bariev, a member of the Presidium of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
According to him, the political prisoner was transferred from the prison in the city of Minusinsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai, to Correctional Colony No. 1 in the village of Maima. Thus Seydaliyev became the first Crimean Tatar to be held on the territory of the Republic of Altai.
Nasrulla Seydaliyev was one of the first residents of Henichesk district arrested by Russian security forces after the start of the full-scale invasion. He was detained on March 4, 2022, in occupied Crimea, where he had come to visit his son. The man was accused of involvement with the Noman Chelebidzhikhan Battalion under Article 208, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
On November 30, 2022, an illegal court in occupied Crimea sentenced Seydaliyev to 9 years in prison and one year of administrative supervision. The charges in the case were based solely on the testimony of “secret witnesses” and on the conclusions of experts who systematically collaborate with Russian security agencies.
After being transferred to Minusinsk, the political prisoner was threatened with loss of citizenship and deportation to Uzbekistan, despite the fact that Nasrulla Seydaliyev is a citizen of Ukraine and has never received a Russian passport.
During his time in the Minusinsk colony the man’s health deteriorated significantly: he lost about half his weight, developed inflammatory processes in his bones, his blood pressure was constantly elevated, and he developed swelling and varicose veins. Medical assistance, according to the family, was limited to the provision of unknown medications without proper treatment.
In August 2025 Seydaliyev was transferred from Minusinsk, after which the family did not know his whereabouts for several months. It later became known that due to his critical health condition he was taken to a hospital in Barnaul, where he stayed for about a month. After that the man was delivered to a colony in the Republic of Altai.
There, according to relatives, Seydaliyev was effectively deprived of medical care. His necessary medicines were taken away from him, and parcels with medications did not reach the addressee. In addition, over the past four months the man has not been outdoors even once. He was also forbidden to wear glasses because of their metal frame, despite his constant need for them.
The first letter from Nasrulla Seydaliyev in 2026 the family received on January 14 after it passed censorship. It contained only general phrases, yet even this letter became confirmation for the relatives that the man is alive.
The relatives of the political prisoner emphasize that the only hope to save Seydaliyev remains his inclusion on prisoner exchange lists, since there is a real threat of death or deportation to an unknown destination.
