The court found a resident of the Kherson region guilty of collaborationist activities for working in an illegal law enforcement body created by the Russian occupiers. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison with confiscation of property.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The convicted man was also banned for 14 years from holding positions in state authorities and local self-government.
According to the investigation, in July 2024 the 38-year-old man, while staying in the temporarily occupied Oleshky, agreed to take the position of the so-called head of the fire-rescue unit in the illegal Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Kherson region.
In this position he organized the unit’s work in accordance with Russian legislation and regulations and thus contributed to entrenching the occupation regime in the captured territory.
The convicted person will begin serving his sentence after being detained. The special pre-trial investigation in the case was carried out by the territorial office of the State Bureau of Investigation in Melitopol.
Earlier we wrote that the accountant of the occupiers’ hygiene center in Kherson received a sentence for collaborationism.
