Ukrainian figure skater from Kherson Kyrylo Marsak successfully started at the European Championships taking place in Sheffield, UK. Based on the short program results he ranks 11th among the continent’s top skaters.
This is reported by the Ukrainian Figure Skating Federation.
“The student of Finnish coach Alina Mayer-Virtanen delivered the best skate of his short program this season (“Fall On Me” Andrea Bocelli, Matteo Bocelli). He skated the program cleanly, at good speed, and in particular received judges’ bonuses for jumping elements – a quadruple Salchow, a triple Axel and a triple Lutz+triple toe loop combination. Scoring 76.92 points, Kyrylo set a new personal best and qualified for the free skate”, – the post says.
The athlete dedicated his performance to his father, who is currently serving in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Kyrylo Marsak was born in Kherson. He competes in men’s singles. He is a three-time Ukrainian champion (2023-2025), bronze medalist of the Ukrainian championships (2021).
Also Kyrylo Marsak is the Ukrainian junior champion (2021) and a participant in the European Championships (2023) and the World Championships (2023, 2025).
He became the first Ukrainian to land a quadruple Lutz (a jump in figure skating that has four rotations in the air, – mostu) on the international stage in the 21st century.
