Kherson Oblast has recorded one of the lowest numbers of valid licenses to practice medicine in Ukraine.
This is evidenced by data from the Ministry of Health, published by the Opendatabot service.
As of today, Ukraine has 43 939 valid medical licenses. Of these, 29 614 licenses (67%) were issued to doctors and medical specialists who work independently as individual entrepreneurs (FOPs).
The largest number of medical FOPs with valid licenses work in Kyiv (2,6 thousand), Lviv Oblast (2,5 thousand) and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (2,2 thousand). At the same time Kherson Oblast is among the regions with the smallest number of such licenses, together with Kirovohrad, Chernihiv and Mykolaiv oblasts.
The most in-demand specialization among FOPs remains dentistry — over 10 thousand licenses. Also popular are junior nursing and ultrasound diagnostic services.
In addition, over 14 thousand licenses issued to medical companies are registered in Ukraine. However, about 14% of such enterprises are in the process of liquidation or are involved in bankruptcy proceedings. 12 377 companies remain active, most of which (64%) are private, about another third have communal ownership, and only 6% are state institutions.
