The Russian retailer “Magnit” may enter the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson Oblast and other seized regions of Ukraine.
Pro-Russian media report this, citing sources.
The company allegedly may launch a chain of supermarkets with direct support from the federal authorities of the Russian Federation, which promise assistance in organizing logistics and distribution centers.
Currently “Magnit” already supplies part of its products to the “Your Store” network, which operates in occupied Donetsk, Mariupol, and Luhansk.
“Magnit” is one of Russia’s largest strategic retail companies. By number of stores and geographic coverage it ranks first in the Russian Federation.
The company was founded by Sergei Galitsky in the 1990s, who developed the business until 2018, after which he sold his stake.
At the beginning of 2026 the main owner of “Magnit” is the investment company Marathon Group, controlled by Alexander Vinokurov and Sergei Zakharov. In total the chain comprises over 30,000 stores across the territory of the Russian Federation.
