The Kherson City Court has handed down a verdict to Crimean native Anton Selyuk, who was found guilty of voluntarily taking a position in an illegal law enforcement body in the temporarily occupied territory. The court sentenced him to 13 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold positions in government bodies for 14 years and confiscation of all his property.
This is stated in the court verdict.
The investigation established that in July 2022 Anton Selyuk voluntarily accepted an offer from the occupation administration and took the position of junior duty inspector at the occupied Kherson pre-trial detention center. Later he performed the duties of a unit chief. Witnesses in the case confirmed that Selyuk not only supervised detainees but also took part in their transfer to Crimea and to the settlement of Chongar. One of the victims testified that during the reception of prisoners in Chongar the convicted person personally subjected him to torture by electric shock.
The court proceedings were held in a special procedure (in absentia), since the person involved is evading justice.
At present, according to available information, he continues to work in the penitentiary system on the territory of occupied Crimea.
