The court handed down a sentence to Kherson resident Vitaliy Bukaryev, who worked for the Russians in the occupied Colony No. 90.
This is stated in the court’s verdict.
As the investigation established and the court confirmed, during the occupation of Kherson in 2022 Bukaryev voluntarily took the post of the so‑called junior supervision and security inspector of the illegally created Northern Correctional Colony No. 90.
Before the full‑scale invasion he worked at this colony in a similar but legal position. During the occupation of Kherson, Bukaryev stayed in the city and began working for the Russians.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers found orders appointing Bukaryev to work in the occupied colony, reports indicating that he took part in supervising prisoners, conducted cell searches, etc.
The court found Vitaliy Bukaryev guilty in absentia under Part 7 of Article 111‑1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaborationist activity). He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of all his property.
Earlier we wrote that the former head of one of the departments of the Kherson colony, convicted of treason, was found guilty of collaborationism.
