The strike by the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine on locations where Russian military personnel were concentrated in the settlement of Khorly on the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region was directed at lawful military targets and complied with the norms of international law and Ukraine’s right to self-defense.
This was reported by a source in the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine in a comment to Ukrinform.
According to him, on the night from 31 December 2025 to 1 January 2026 a series of explosions rang out in occupied Khorly. Precision strikes hit facilities where Russian occupiers were present and resting.
As a result of the attack, the source noted, Russian forces and the occupation administration suffered significant losses. Among the dead — former head of the occupation police department “Kalanchakske” Serhiy Bogan.
It is also reported that representatives of Russian security services took part in New Year’s events in occupied Khorly.
As the source noted, the presence of the occupiers in the café and hotel took place under a strict curfew and a harsh counterintelligence regime that effectively makes civilian movement impossible. At the same time, Russian military personnel, FSB officers and occupation police allowed themselves boisterous behavior and alcohol consumption.
Recall, on the night from 31 December to 1 January 2026 in Khorly the restaurant “Ukrainian Khata”, also was attacked the hotel “Leo”, located nearby.
