A court in the Kherson region found the former acting village mayor guilty of embezzling community funds
This was reported on Facebook by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
As investigators found, in 2019 the official signed a contract to install sports, gymnastics, and children’s playgrounds worth over UAH 532,000. After that he signed documents certifying the work had been completed, although in reality no playgrounds were installed. On the basis of these papers the money was transferred from the community budget.
Expert examinations showed that the work had not been carried out and that the information in the documents was false.
The court took into account that the damages were fully reimbursed and the defendant pleaded guilty. As a result, he was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment suspended with a three-year probationary period and was banned from holding managerial and administrative positions for three years.
