In Kherson in 2026, work to install anti-drone nets on the city’s streets will continue and expand.
This was told in an interview with MOST by the head of the Kherson City Military Administration, Yaroslav Shanko.
“The fact that the city will be covered with nets – that’s 100%. There are designated roads and routes along which the nets will be installed. Work is being done here with the military”, – said Shanko.
The head of the MVA also noted that routes and paths for 2026 have already been identified where the installation of anti-drone nets is planned. Specific addresses are not being disclosed at this time for security reasons.
At the same time, Yaroslav Shanko emphasized that such nets are not a full-fledged protection against drone attacks, but they have proven their effectiveness as an additional element of defense. He also added that electronic warfare remains the most effective means of anti-drone protection, and the best results come from a comprehensive approach.
“The most effective method of anti-drone protection – is EW systems. A properly built protection system can produce an effective result”, – the head of the MVA concluded.
Earlier, the head of KhOVA Oleksandr Prokudin told MOST that, unlike Mykolaiv police officers, the Kherson do not see overpayments in purchases of anti-drone nets carried out by the Department of Civil Protection and Defense Work of the Kherson Regional State Administration. That is why the investigation is being conducted by law enforcement officers of the neighboring region.
