The court found Kherson resident Nadiya Bohaychuk guilty of justifying the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
This is stated in the court’s verdict.
As the investigation found, in September 2022 Bohaychuk gave an interview to a pro-Russian TV channel in which she justified the occupation and Russia’s aggression.
In particular, she said the following: “Grandmothers have started receiving their pensions, young people have started looking for work, our kindergartens will be opening, the school as well, children are already getting ready to go to school. Well, so everything seems to be fine.”
After the de-occupation of the right-bank area of the Kherson region, Bohaychuk was detained by Ukrainian law enforcement. She was notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification and denial of the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine).
On December 11, Bohaychuk entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor.
The court approved the agreement and sentenced her to 2 years of imprisonment, but released Bohaychuk from serving the sentence by establishing a one-year probation period. She must also cover procedural costs for engaging experts to conduct the examination in the amount of UAH 8,914.
