The rector of the collaborationist maritime academy in Kherson was sentenced in absentia to 11 years of imprisonment.
This is stated in the verdict of the Kherson City Court.
According to the investigation, since September 2022 the woman headed the «Kherson State Maritime Academy» unlawfully created by the Russian occupying authorities. While holding the position of the so‑called rector, she organized the educational process according to Russian educational standards, switched instruction to the Russian language, supported the holding of a pseudo-referendum, and assisted in legalizing the institution within the legal field of the Russian Federation. The academy was also evacuated to Lazurne.
The court qualified her actions as collaborationist activity and aiding the aggressor state.
By the court’s verdict the woman was found guilty and sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. In addition, she is prohibited from holding positions in the field of education for 15 years.
The verdict was issued in absentia. Serving of the sentence will begin after the convicted woman is detained.
Recall that the Kherson City Court also in absentia found guilty of collaborationist activity the 57-year-old resident of Henichesk, Natalya Halka. Court materials indicate that in the summer of 2022 Halka voluntarily agreed to head the occupation school №1 in Henichesk.
