The Kherson court found Mykyta Bazaliy guilty, who in 2022 in Kherson during the occupation took part in organizing the operation of a branch of the Russian bank “Promsvyazbank” and facilitated the introduction of the ruble, for which he was convicted of collaborationist activity.
This is stated in the court’s verdict.
The court established that on May 18, 2022, Bazaliy deliberately joined the creation and operation of the so‑called additional office “Kherson” of the Public Joint-Stock Company “Promsvyazbank”, which belongs to the Russian Federation.
He assisted in the introduction of the ruble as a means of payment in Kherson and the region. He also ensured its circulation by providing banking services.
Bazaliy offered jobs to former employees of Ukrainian banks, in particular JSC “Oschadbank”, as well as to other local specialists.
On June 29, 2022, he concluded an employment contract and took the position of the so‑called deputy manager for retail business development at the Kherson branch of “Promsvyazbank”.
In this position he participated in campaigning for the opening of accounts and settlement-and-cash services. The settlements involved the use of rubles.
The court found Mykyta Bazaliy guilty under Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and a ban on holding public office for 15 years.
