Investigators of the Internal Security Department of the SBU of Ukraine in the Kherson region announced suspicion against Russian citizen Vadim Rozhdestvensky, who during the occupation kidnapped, beat and threatened to kill a civilian resident of the Kherson region.
This is stated on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, Rozhdestvensky is a platoon commander of the 2nd motorized rifle battalion of the 109th rifle regiment of the 1st Army Corps (until 2022 the so‑called people’s militia) “DPR”.
Thus, in June 2022 on the territory of the Kalynivska community of Beryslav district, Rozhdestvensky and two other servicemen of the Russian army detained a local resident, accusing him of transmitting information about the Russian Armed Forces. The man was taken outside the village, beaten and forced to dig a pit while shots were fired at his feet.
As a result of the beating, the man sustained closed rib fractures with a ruptured lung.
After that the occupiers left, leaving the man in a life‑threatening condition.
For this Ukrainian law enforcement suspects Vadim Rozhdestvensky under Part 2 of Art. 28, Part 1 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (cruel treatment of the civilian population, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy).
Earlier it was reported that an employee of the Russian FSB was notified in absentia of suspicion for torturing civilians in Kherson region.
