The occupying authorities stated that on the left bank of Kherson region there is a shortage of hotels, recreation bases and campsites.
This was reported by Roman Kalinin, a representative of the occupying Ministry of Tourism.
According to him, those tourist facilities that were on the left bank before 2022 “require restoration”. He also claims that work on their restoration is supposedly already underway.
In addition, the occupiers still expect 100 thousand tourists who were supposed to visit occupied Kherson region in 2025. Note that earlier the acting so-called Minister of Resorts and Tourism of Kherson region Serhiy Zapuskalov said that this year the left bank has already been visited by about 100 thousand tourists.
That means someone among the occupation officials has unreliable information, or the actual number of tourists is far from their claims. The pseudo-governor Volodymyr Saldo said about plans to receive over 100 thousand tourists back at the beginning of the year. It is likely that Kalinin and Zapuskalov are trying to meet Saldo’s expectations by making up figures.
Note that the shortage of hotels Kalinin mentions may be related to the fact that the occupiers seized a significant number of them and converted them into their own offices or stationed military personnel there. For example, last year the Russians seized a boarding house in Zalizny Port and presented it as a newly built Youth House.
