A Kherson resident, Andriy Varlashin, who worked for the Russians at the captured Correctional Colony No. 90, was found guilty of collaboration.
This is stated in the court’s verdict.
As law enforcement established and the court confirmed, in June 2022 Varlashin took a job at the Northern Correctional Colony No. 90 in Kherson, which at that time was occupied by Russian military forces. He was appointed as a junior supervision inspector in the security department.
On the eve of the de-occupation of the right bank of Kherson region, Varlashin left Kherson. His current whereabouts are unknown.
The man was found guilty in absentia under part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely — the voluntary occupation by a citizen of Ukraine of a position in an illegal law enforcement body created in temporarily occupied territory. He was sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Earlier we wrote that the former employee of the Northern Correctional Colony No. 90, Ihor Malay, who was detained by Ukrainian law enforcement, was given 12 years for collaborationist activity.
