Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the damage caused to the water and marine ecosystems of the Kherson region has amounted to nearly 1.3 billion hryvnias.
This was reported by the National Nature Park “Nyzhnodniprovskyi” citing the Environmental Information Center of the Kherson Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Oles Honchar.
The total amount of environmental losses for the Kherson region amounts to more than 162 billion hryvnias. This includes damages from pollution and contamination of land and atmospheric air.
All collected materials and calculations were handed over by specialists of the State Ecological Inspectorate to law enforcement agencies within criminal proceedings, and were also sent to the Operational Headquarters at the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine for further response and planning of measures to eliminate the ecological consequences of the war, the statement said.
Earlier, ecologist Viktor Komorin said that as a result of the occupiers’ detonation of the Kakhovka Reservoir according to various data there was the death of from several thousand to tens of thousands of dolphins, as well as – over 50% of mussels.
