Russian forces have shelled medical facilities in the Kherson region more than five hundred times.
This was reported on air by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, writes Ukrinform.
According to him, almost all hospitals in the region have sustained damage, however 42 healthcare institutions continue to operate in the Kherson region, which include around 130 medical establishments. Medical care is provided to residents by approximately 2200 specialists, among them — about 670 doctors.
Prokudin noted that underground hospitals are operating in the region. In just one of the medical facilities that Russian forces shelled more than 20 times, 1200 operations on the heart and blood vessels were carried out last year.
The head of the OVA also reported a shortage of specialists, particularly neurosurgeons, ophthalmologists, oncologists, traumatologists and doctors who treat polytrauma patients. According to him, the region is appealing to the relevant ministry with a request to dispatch specialists from other regions.
