In the Kherson region, on the site of a school destroyed by Russian forces, a new space will be built that will combine the functions of a school, a kindergarten, and an open community center.
This is stated in an announcement by Big City Lab.
The project will be implemented under the state program for the comprehensive restoration of settlements affected by Russian aggression. The architectural design was developed by the urban bureau Big City Lab.
It is noted that the village where the new facility will appear was heavily affected during the hostilities: the school, the community center, the library, and the cinema hall were destroyed.
The new school will include an assembly hall, a sports hall, a library-coworking space, a cafeteria, and a bread oven.

“The school year is 175 days, from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. — at other times the school is closed. But even during the school year some spaces are used 5–10 times — for example, the assembly hall for ceremonial events or the library for issuing and returning books. We designed the building in such a way as to maximize the use of every square meter throughout the year — day and night, on weekdays and weekends,” explains Viktoriia Titova, CEO of the full-cycle urban bureau Big City Lab.
The building will be barrier-free and will consist of five blocks: a central common space, a kindergarten, a primary school, a gymnasium, and a sports hall. A radiation shelter will be provided on the grounds.

The announcement says that the educational process is planned to be organized through practical lessons and research: the school will have a natural sciences laboratory, a technology classroom, and a computer science room. Single-seat desks will allow the format of work to be quickly changed — from group lessons to a common circle.
It is noted that the project was created by Big City Lab commissioned by the Service for Recovery and Development of Infrastructure in the Kherson region and is being implemented under the coordination of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.
