At the beginning of October, during a Russian tank attack in Kherson, two brothers were injured — 17-year-old Anatoliy and 8-year-old Artem. The boys have now been discharged from the hospital; they face prosthetics and further rehabilitation ahead.
This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The shelling occurred when the boys were preparing to go to a chess lesson: the older one went out to open the gate, and the younger was in the car, which caught fire during the attack.

The children’s mother sustained wounds to her head, arms, and thigh, pulled her sons away from the burning car, and called an ambulance.
“I heard my older son’s scream. I see: he is lying on the ground with injured legs, and the car where Artem is sitting is on fire. I shout, ‘Artem, get out!’ And he says, ‘Mom, I can’t stand on my feet,’ recalls Mrs. Olena, the boys’ mother.
The brothers were initially hospitalized in Kherson children’s hospital, but due to the severity of their condition they were transferred to Kyiv — to the reconstructive and plastic microsurgery department of the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdyt”.

The older brother, Anatoliy, underwent amputation of the forepart of the right foot and suffered a severe injury to the left heel bone. The younger, Artem, had an amputation of the upper third of the lower leg and a significant defect of the left foot. The microsurgical team performed all necessary operations and skin grafting.
The brothers have now been discharged from the hospital; their lives are not in danger.
Recall, as a result of Russian aggression in the Kherson region 44 children were killed, and 268 Ukrainian minors suffered injuries of varying degrees of severity.
