President Volodymyr Zelensky during an online speech at the Parliamentary Summit taking place in Stockholm emphasized the impossibility of changing borders by force, the Office of the President reported on its website.
Volodymyr Zelensky urged support for Ukraine, the negotiating process, and for defending the principles on which Europe is founded. As he noted, Putin wants to break the principles of territorial integrity and their legal recognition. He wants this not only from Ukraine, but from the whole world, he noted.
“Borders cannot be changed by force, war criminals cannot escape justice, and the aggressor must fully pay for the war he started”. – said the president.
Zelensky also urged the world community to maintain pressure against Russia, including the confiscation of Russia’s frozen assets.
“Russia is still killing people. Every day. Occupied territories remain occupied. Therefore, Russia still remains a criminal state. If parliaments in Europe, in the world do not turn a blind eye to this, then no one will turn a blind eye”, – said the president.
Let us recall, in April this year the envoy of the American president, Steve Witkoff, presented to European officials a proposal to end the Russo-Ukrainian war. Even then it was proposed that Ukraine should recognize Crimea and Donbas as Russian territory; in exchange Kyiv was to be returned control over the occupied parts of the Kharkiv region, as well as over the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and the Kakhovka dam.
It was recently revealed that the new “peace plan” of US President Donald Trump to end the war in Ukraine proposes effectively freezing the current front lines in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
In contrast, European leaders have prepared their own counterproposal, in which they insist on the return to Ukraine of the Kakhovka dam, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, and the restoration of control over the Kinburn Spit.
