In Russia’s Krasnodar Krai they are demanding that displaced persons from Kherson Oblast return funds received under the program of so-called “housing certificates”. An audit showed that 169 families allegedly received payments without grounds.
This is reported by “IPC-South” citing Russian sources.
According to Russian media, and based on data from Russian authorities, part of the payments were made to displaced persons from settlements of Kherson Oblast that were not included in the approved list. Compensation was also received by people who had registration or permanent residence in the Russian Federation, dual registration addresses, or had not obtained Russian citizenship. Claims have also been made against those who lived in Kherson intermittently, entered the Russian Federation from other countries, or left the oblast not in an “emergency order”.
As journalists at “IPC-South” write, at first the Russians questioned payments to 250 families totaling over 770 million rubles. After review the scope of the claims was reduced to 169 cases amounting to 519 million rubles. Currently Russian authorities are demanding the return of these funds.
According to Russian sources, Kherson families are already receiving letters demanding that they voluntarily compensate the amounts previously transferred, which are classified as “unjust enrichment”.
