The police are investigating the unlawful detention and killing of a local resident of the settlement Hornostayivka in Kherson Oblast by Russian military personnel, which occurred on November 20, 2023.
This is reported on the page of the Department for Investigation of Crimes Committed in the Context of Armed Conflict of the Investigative Directorate of the Main Department of the National Police in Kherson Oblast.
The police reported that that day at about 06:30 Russian military forces abducted a 28-year-old man and held him in the premises of the Hornostayivka police department at 12 Torhova Street. The detainee was beaten repeatedly, as a result of which he died.
Representatives of the Russian army’s security forces, as well as local collaborators shown in the photos, are suspected of committing this war crime.

Law enforcement is also seeking witnesses and evidence of other instances of illegal detentions of Ukrainians by Russian forces in the premises of the police investigative department.
