23-year-old Maksym Brazhnyk from Donetsk region, who fought against Ukraine in Kherson region, has been found guilty in absentia of high treason and collaborationist activity. The
corresponding decision was issued on November 4 by the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv, writes Europrostir.
According to the investigation, Brazhnyk in 2022 voluntarily joined the ranks of the so-called “People’s Militia of the DPR”, which operates as part of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. He held the position of senior rifleman in the 4th rifle brigade.
In the second half of 2022, Brazhnyk fought against Ukrainian forces in the areas of Novoazovsk, Volodymyrivka, Urozhayne and other settlements of Donetsk region, Zaporizhzhia Oblast and Henichesk district of Kherson region. In particular, he took part in the capture of Ukrainian territories.
His participation in hostilities was confirmed by the testimony of Russian prisoners of war questioned in court.
The court sentenced Brazhnyk in absentia to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property.
