The Kherson City Court in absentia found Viktor Chernushenko, the former deputy head of Temporary Detention Facility No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kherson Oblast, guilty of collaborationist activities.
This became known from the court’s verdict.
According to investigators, during the occupation of Kherson Chernushenko voluntarily agreed to cooperate with Russian military forces and security services. On May 17, 2022, he assumed the position of the so-called head of the Forensic and Criminalistics Center of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kherson Oblast created by the occupation authorities.
While in the so‑called position, from May to November 2022 Chernushenko oversaw the unit’s operations, selected personnel, gave instructions to subordinates regarding the conduct of examinations, and established cooperation with the occupation’s police structures.

The court in absentia sentenced Viktor Chernushenko to 15 years of imprisonment, deprivation of the right to hold positions in government bodies, and confiscation of property (part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Viktor Chernushenko was born on July 14, 1984 in Vysunsk (now the Bereznehuvatska community) in the Mykolaiv region. He resided in Kherson.
Before the full-scale Russian invasion, he worked as the deputy head of the temporary detention facility.
Earlier we wrote that a resident of Chornobaivka was sentenced to 11 years in prison for helping the occupiers establish Russian mobile communication during the occupation in Kherson Oblast.
