Over six months the population of the region decreased by 2,031 people, and as of August 1, 2012, it was estimated at 1,081.3 thousand people.
The reduction in the region’s population occurred exclusively due to a natural decline of 2,293 people, while net migration gain amounted to 262 people. This was reported by the press service of the Main Department of Statistics in Kherson region.
During January–July 2012, 7,213 children were born in the region (11.6% more than in January–July 2011), and 9,506 people died (0.1% fewer).
The number of people who arrived in the region for permanent residence in January–July 2012 amounted to 3,499 people, while the number who left – 3,237 people.
