In the UAV that attacked Kherson in September this year, components with Korean characters were found. Among the characters present is the marking of the Juche calendar used in North Korea.
This was reported by the British organization Conflict Armament Research (CAR).
According to the markings, the submunition was manufactured in 1989 according to the Juche calendar, which corresponds to 2000 in the Gregorian calendar, CAR reports.
According to the organization’s findings, the munition was initially part of a rocket artillery system and was later modified for use on an FPV drone.
It is noted that the Korean component for the munition is used by the occupiers in the production of improvised munitions for kamikaze drones.
They are secured using a wooden stick, wire and adhesive tape, the material says.
CAR also stated that this find establishes another direct material link between the North Korean defense industry and the war in Ukraine.
Conflict Armament Research (CAR) is a British research organization that tracks deliveries of conventional weapons, ammunition and related military equipment to conflict zones. It specializes in investigating how armaments end up in the hands of terrorists and insurgent groups, and cooperates with governments to address these issues.
Earlier MOST wrote that Tochnyi created a map that records over 2800 cases of Russian drone attacks on civilians in Kherson, and also that from drone strikes in Kherson Oblast and Donetsk in September this year, in total 54 people were killed, another 272 – wounded.
