In the so-called Kakhovka district (a territorial unit introduced by the occupation authorities, analogous to a community, – МОСТ) on the left bank of Kherson region less than half of the pre-war population remains.
This was stated to occupation media by the so-called head of the temporarily occupied city of Kakhovka, Pavlo Filipchuk.
According to him, until February 2022 about 75 thousand people lived in Kakhovka and Kakhovka district, and now – over 35 thousand.
Some people, he claims, have left for territory controlled by Ukraine, for European countries and to various regions of Russia.
The occupation official also noted that the majority of the population are pensioners and people of pre-retirement age, while few young people remain in the region.
It is worth noting that, according to official data as of January 1, 2022, over 220 thousand people lived in Kakhovka district, of whom 34 thousand lived directly in the city of Kakhovka. So which 75 thousand Filipchuk is talking about is unclear. It is likely done to hide the real picture regarding the number of residents of the temporarily occupied territories and to downplay the demographic problems.
Note that the occupation authorities do not disclose information about the total population on the left bank of Kherson region. At the same time the occupiers are massively evicting residents of Novooleksiivka, in order to settle their houses with Russian citizens to whom they promised jobs in the TOT. It is also known that from the occupied Henichesk community since the beginning of the occupation almost 25% of residents have left.
