The best thing I’ve heard in recent years – that Kherson is free again. When I found out, even my own lack of freedom in Russian captivity seemed a little less.
We all talked a lot about freedom, but only when you lose it completely do you understand – what it really is and what it is worth. Without freedom everything else loses meaning. I am very happy that today we are free, equal and strong, in a country that fights for each of us. And each of us must likewise fight for our common freedom and common dream – a free and independent state.
These are very difficult times. Especially for the people of Kherson. The monsters take revenge on us every day for the fact that we refused to become like them. We refused to be Russians. You risk your lives every day just by living in your own homes. Sometimes it seems that we are not living but waiting for something. Yet right now the fiercest and most desperate struggle is underway. A struggle in which we will surely win. Because free people always defeat hordes of slaves.
What I missed most in captivity were my family and my city. The warm sun, the Dnipro, the most delicious food, the sea breeze, the plane trees, the people of Kherson – so sincere, generous and genuine. And however hard it may be for us, remember that Kherson – is a fortress, and we will definitely win.
Happy holiday, my native city!
